Fans of the cancelled CBS series "Moonlight" are trying to do everything they can to get the network to change its mind, especially since CBS reversed a similar decision just a year ago.
But it appears that the network's resurrection of "Jericho" last season will actually do more harm than good for "Moonlight" as CBS has realized that fan passion doesn't always translate into ratings.
Nina Tassler, president of CBS Entertainment, told Variety that there were a lot of lessons to be learned from the "Jericho" experience, which prompted the network to bring back the post-apocalyptic drama only to see its ratings far worse than before it was cancelled.
That doesn't seem to faze "Moonlight" fans, however. The trade publication says that a demonstration was held last week outside the offices of The CW, a network which CBS Corp. is a part owner of that some fans are hoping will pick up the show instead.
Even with its cancellation, there still seems to be some life left for "Jericho." Reports surfaced last month that cable operator Comcast might be interested in working out a deal similar to the one DirecTV did with NBC for the series "Friday Night Lights" where Comcast pays for some of the show's production costs for the rights to show the episodes first on the cable provider. However, no such deal was announced during CBS' upfront presentation last week, and there has been no further word if such a deal will be finalized.
