Nichelle Nichols Still A Show-Stopper
When Nichelle Nichols walked onto the set of her first Star Trek film in 15 years, she literally brought the entire production to a grinding halt.
"I got a call from [J.J. Abrams], and he invited me to lunch to ask me how I felt" about the new "Star Trek" film, Nichols told Jonja.net. "He did the courtesy, the honor of doing that, [and] I thought that was just unbelievable. Then I went on the set and they were shooting ... and when I went on the set, I was being very quiet."
But no matter how quiet Nichols might be, she is an extremely recognizable face, and she can never go near anything Star Trek-related and not be unnoticed.
"All of a sudden, everything stops," she said. "I mean, the actors just stopped in place. They saw me walk in and they were in their lines and went like, 'and sit, we have the ...' And that was such an honor bestowed upon me."
Nichols said she is behind the new "Star Trek" movie, and especially behind Zoe Saldana who will work and try to fill Nichols' shoes as Uhura.
"Star Trek XI" premieres in May 2009.
