Airlock Alpha To Create 'Second Life' Presence

Can't get enough of Airlock Alpha in cyberspace? Well, soon you won't have to simply settle for just a Web page.

Airlock Alpha and its sister site Rabid Doll are opening an area in Second Life, the virtual three-dimensional world that has become a new center of online commerce and gathering, that will feature a social site, movies and more.

The new area will be known as the SyFy Complexus, and was recently unveiled by Nick Chase, Airlock Alpha's lead programmer, during last week's broadcast of SyFy Radio.

"The idea is that we're going to create a space for Airlock Alpha where people can come in and sit down and interact with other people so that people can get together and talk about this and talk about that," Chase said. "We'll have events for people coming in. We're going to put in a theater. I can't talk about everything that is going on there [yet], but it's going to be some cool stuff."

The SyFy Complexus is not yet open as it's under construction, but preliminary designs by both Chase and Airlock Alpha lead graphic designer has it as a building in the sky, Chase said.

Griffin "has gotten this fantastic design, but we had to modify it a little bit because it was too big," Chase said. The building itself "was actually perfect. The land that we are putting it on has a hole in it. It's a little bit of a bizarre situation. When we get it up there, you guys can come down and see what I am talking about."
