'Lost' Ratings Slip Again
It's been a down week for genre programming in general, and "Lost" hasn't been able to buck the trend.
The last episode until May sweeps Thursday night earned a 7.0 rating/11 share, winning the 9 p.m. hour, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. While it was more than enough to beat college basketball on CBS as well as "The Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC, it's still the lowest rating "Lost" has received this season, down 5.4 percent from last week and 26 percent from its season premiere.
"Lost" didn't benefit much from its lead-in, "Miss Guided," which averaged a 4.3/7 and finishing behind both "Deal or No Deal" on NBC and basketball on CBS. "Smallville" also aired that hour, but only managed a 2.2/4, according to Zap2it, another season low.
Earlier in the week, "Jericho" posted its worst numbers of the season with a 3.5/6, taking a hit from the conclusion of "Dancing With the Stars," which drew a 12.8/20 for ABC as well as a 6.7/12 for its lead-out, "Miss Guided," a loss of nearly half its lead-on audience.
"Jericho" also was beat by a rerun of "Law & Order: SVU" which had a 5.8/10. It matched the ratings from its lead-in, "Big Brother," and both were off nearly 49 percent from a rerun of "NCIS" which started the night for CBS.
Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
