Fillion, Harris In Whedon's New Musical Miniseries

In the future, Joss Whedon may be best known as the creator of ?Dr. Horrible?s Sing-Along Blog.?

Along with his work on the upcoming television series "Dollhouse" and all those comic books having Buffy The Vampire Slayer doing some innovative stuff, he is also the force behind a short musical series for the Internet.

The rumors started yesterday with an interview on Ain't It Cool News where Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother") stated "I'm doing a web short film that Joss Whedon is directing and wrote called Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog. That's a musical about super villains and crossing my fingers for the next round of 'Dancing With The Stars.'"

Fans debated whether Harris was joking or not for several hours when Whedon himself posted a confirmation on Whedonesque.com. Whedon stated "During the strike I started writing a musical intended as a limited internet series, three episodes of approximately 10 minutes each."

Whedon created the series along with his brother Jed, Jed's fianc?e Maurissa, and brother Zack. The writing has been completed and filming is to begin today.

Whedon described the musical as "the story of a low-rent super-villain, the hero who keeps beating him up, and the cute girl from the laundromat he's too shy to talk to."

"Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" stars Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible, Nathan Fillion ("Firefly," Serenity") as Captain Hammer, Felicia Day ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") as Penny, "And a cast of Dozens!" Whedon concluded.
