While it's been more than six months since fans sent in tons of nuts to tell CBS to bring "Jericho" back on the air, it appears the show's executive producer Jon Turtletaub has finally returned to Earth and has something good to share with the show's fans.
He recently posted to the "Jericho" production blog about how he heard of the show's demise and its later resurrection.
"Like everyone else, I have been completely overwhelmed and impressed with the campaign you led to save the show," Turtletaub said. "It wasn't just your passion, but your persistence that paid off."
Turtletaub said that when CBS called to say they were being overrun by fans through e-mails, phone calls and peanuts and wanted his help in trying to stop it, he "pretended that my phone was dying and that I couldn't hear a word."
"Eventually, I suggested what everyone suggested ... put the show back on!"
The cancellation of "Jericho" seemed to come from faulty research CBS conducted about the post-apocalyptic series audience, Turtletaub said. When CBS finally reversed its position and ordered seven more episodes for the second season, the people behind the show decided to give something back to the loyal viewers.
"The show keeps getting better, mostly because we have listened to all of you," Turtletaub said. We're "trying to give you more of what you love and less of what you didn't. So this season of 'Jericho' is 100 percent dedicated to all of you. This is your show. We made it for you. And we hope our work is worthy of the support you have given us."
Of course, as the show gets ready to return Feb. 12 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS, Turtletaub has one last request for the fans.
"Now if each of you can find two or three million friends to watch it, we'll be around for a long time," he said.
