iTunes Captures 'Farscape'

Even as SciFi Channel prepares to bring back an online engagement of its one-time hit series "Farscape," The Jim Henson Co. -- which produces the show -- is bringing old episodes back to the fans.

Henson has released its television and film library to iTunes beginning Monday which includes the first season of "Farscape" as well as the HBO series "Fraggle Rock" that many of us may have grown up with.

The iTunes deal through Apple Inc. was thanks to a partnership between New Video and Henson, and in the coming months, will make "Farscape's" entire series available for the standard $1.99 per episode.

"We continue to be honored and thrilled by our fans ongoing desire to support their favorite shows and view them using all formats of media," said Henson vice president of marketing and publicity Nicole Goldman in a release. "We know our fans have been asking for these titles in iTunes, and through our partnership with New Video, we hope to serve our loyal supporters and also introduce these beloved shows to new audiences."

Unlike NBC Universal -- SciFi Channel's parent -- which pulled out of its agreement with iTunes, some of the network's current and former programming is not affected by the move as "Stargate: Atlantis" is still made available through an agreement with its production company, MGM, while "Farscape" will be available through its production company, Henson.

However, other SciFi Channel shows like "Battlestar Galactica" and "Eureka" remain off the iTunes list.
