Going with a line of logic that "Reaper" needs a better partner, The CW will replace "Supernatural" on Thursday nights to give "Smallville" a new lead-out show. However, the network insists that this doesn't mean "Supernatural" is a goner.
"Reaper," which has been slammed by critics since its strong pilot directed by Kevin Smith, will take over the 9 p.m. slot currently held by "Supernatural." While that might be good news for "Reaper" that The CW is exploring different options, the drawback is that "Reaper" will go head-to-head with new episodes of "Lost" on ABC, which also takes over that timeslot.
"Supernatural" may be alive, but it looks like "Life Is Wild" will become the network's first casualty of the season, despite claims from network officials that the show has not been cancelled. The network also will move its comedy block to Sunday nights, a move that wasn't very successful last year, but may do better in a slightly different time block beginning at 8 p.m. ET instead of 7 p.m. ET last year.
"Smallville" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
