"Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" is the beginning of a new chapter for the Terminator franchise, featuring new characters, new stories and the very much hinted war between Skynet and the rest of humanity.

But with the franchise taking a whole new look at the popular story, the question becomes will actor turned politician Arnold Schwarzenegger have any part of the new trilogy?

Producer Moritz Borman revealed to The Sun that Schwarzenegger will definitely not be back for the opening installment of the trilogy, but there is a very good chance that he will be involved in the movies expected to folow.

"We have a huge twist at the end, which we're being careful not to reveal," he said. "I can tell you this much: This is the story everybody has been waiting for. Namely, we're in the future. The part of it where Arnold's character has not yet been built but is on the drawing board and in the next two episodes we'll get to the point where time-travel is more in the foreground. It's the war against the machines, the start of Skynet taking over the world."

Borman insisted that although Schwarzenegger is not involved with the project now, he still remains every bit as supportive as he was when he filmed "Rise of the Machines." In that big screen outing, the movie was over budget and behind schedule but to get back on the right track Schwarzenegger financed the crane chase scene as he believed it to be integral to the story. Right now the actor is considered unavailable since he is busy governing California.

"It's convenient that he hasn't been built at this point of the story, as Arnold has more important things to do right now," Borman said. "But that doesn't mean he might not re-appear later in the trilogy. He knows the material and is very supportive of what we're doing. There might even be hints of his character in this one."
