Who Should Be Top Newsmakers Of 2007?
Now that Thanksgiving is over in the United States, and we're heading straight for Christmas and the end of 2007, it's time to take a look at who were the biggest newsmakers of 2007.
Each year, I identify the five or six people, groups, shows, or whatever else defines a noun as being the top newsmakers for the past 12 months. This is not a contest about the number of news stories they had written about them, but on who or what influenced the genre this year.
As we do every year, we're looking for your input on who you feel should be included in the top newsmakers list. This could be people like Ronald D. Moore, who has been featured in the past. It could be "Chuck" that showed you can put comedy into the genre and it works. It could be the Jericho fans who successfully saved the show. It could even be William Shatner who was snubbed from the most recent Star Trek movie.
All you need to do is think back through the previous year, and think about those people, those groups, those anything that stuck out in your mind, and who you feel should be included.
Share your views on our Airlock Alpha message boards, which you can access by clicking here. You will have to register first, but don't worry ... it's free, and you should be a part of our online community anyway. (Please allow a short period of time to be approved for membership). And if someone has already taken your idea, don't be afraid to post it again and share why you think the idea is a good one.
Then make sure you come back to Airlock Alpha on Dec. 17 as I unveil the list of Airlock Alpha's Top Newsmakers of 2007 and see if I took your suggestion or not.
We are expecting a great year in 2008, especially since in August, Airlock Alpha will be celebrating 10 years on the Internet! Also, the ninth SyFy Genre Awards is going to be bigger and better than ever, so don't miss it.
