'Terminator' Series Still On Despite Strike

By MICHAEL HINMAN Nov-8-2007

Looks like the Fox network was thinking well ahead when it decided to hold "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for mid-season.

In announcing its new lineup for the beginning of the year -- which is sans "24" -- Fox announced "Sarah Connor" will take Jack Bauer's spot in the 9 p.m. ET Monday slot beginning Jan. 14. That will follow a series premiere the night before beginning at 8 p.m.

At the same time, Fox will halt showing new episodes of "Prison Break" beginning Nov. 12, and will return it as a lead-in show to "Sarah Connor" beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 14.

The loss of "24" is completely strike-related, the network said. Because of the desire of showing all 24 episodes without interruption, Fox is holding the seventh season off indefinitely. The show has had a number of false starts this season including a last-minute change in location shoot, a reformulation, and the drunken driver arrest of its star, Keifer Sutherland.

At the same time, Fox also announced a start date for its much-maligned, and seemingly already cancelled "New Amsterdam." That show will premiere Feb. 22 beginning at 9 p.m ET. Fridays have not been a good night for Fox (in fact, without "American Idol," the only good night has really been Tuesdays when it airs "House"), so it will be curious to how well "New Amsterdam" will do. Fox halted production ahead of the writers strike, indicating that the network is not happy with the direction of the show. It's very likely Fox is simply burning off the episodes already produced and that the show will not see any additional pickups.
