'Wonder Woman' Stalls For 'JLA'

Weve already heard that the "Justice League of America" movie has already shot ahead of the Superman sequel "Man of Steel" (the JLA is obviously a lot faster than a speeding bullet), but now it appears that the ensemble movie has taken priority over another popular comic book character currently in development for the big screen.

Dont panic Batman fans, "The Dark Knight" is still slated for a 2008 launch with the JLA due a year later. However, the developmentally problematic "Wonder Woman" will now be taking the back seat for the Super Friends big screen adventure.

According to SciFi Wire, producer Joel Silver (best known for producing "The Matrix," "Veronica Mars" and "Moonlight") has confirmed that the Wonder Woman project has been stalled in order to make way for the Justice League movie and that the ensemble story will definitely include the Amazonian superhero.

"They're going to make the 'Justice League' movie, and we're kind of pausing on Wonder Woman now," Silver said. Well "let them go ahead and do that picture" first.

Silver also mentioned that the group movie (which also will include Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, The Flash and the Martian Manhunter) may in fact solve some of the development problems that his movie has faced. Originally, Todd Alcott was hired to write the script but was later replaced by numerous names including "Buffy The Vampire Slayer's" Joss Whedon. However, he was eventually dropped from the project after "creative differences" with Silver and Warner Bros.

If that comes together, Wonder Woman will be a part of that story," Silver said about the JLA. "And then we'll see where we go from there. But we struggled with it for a while. I hope that we can solve it and make it one day."
