Leave it to Apple to make sure their customers are satisfied, even when it's doubtful there were too many complaints about a recent screwup involving "Stargate: Atlantis."
iTunes users trying to purchase the fourth season premiere of "Atlantis" over the weekend received an e-mail today from the iTunes Store apologizing for the fact that instead of receiving the episode "Adrift," they instead received the fourth episode of the season, the unaired "Doppelganger."
iTunes is offering the actual season premiere to those who purchased the wrong episode as well as providing a $2 credit for future purposes. As one "Atlantis" fan told Airlock Alpha, it's practically getting three episodes of the show for the price of one.
MGM, which distributes "Atlantis" for SciFi Channel and other platforms like iTunes, never publicly spoke about the episode mishap, but for about 24 hours over the weekend, fans could get a sneak peek of the fourth episode of the season. People familiar with the production said "Doppelganger" was shot first ("Atlantis" episodes are typically shot out of order), thus carried the production number of "401." However, the actual first broadcasted episode was "Adrift," and somehow the production number and broadcast numbers were confused.
"Stargate: Atlantis" airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on SciFi Channel.
