That tough exterior isn't just something Mary McDonnell portrays on television. She has it in real life, too.
The actress, best known to genre fans as President Laura Roslin in "Battlestar Galactica," apparently has filed a cease and desist order against a fan she claims has been stalking her.
The fan, who apparently uses the screen name "peakeana" (although some are saying the actual name is "pekeana") in various fan forums, reportedly goes to school with McDonnell's daughter at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass. The fan, who has only been described as a female who lives in Kansas City, has apparently uploaded pictures of McDonnell's two children to an unidentified Web fan forum, according the Page Six section of the New York Post.
A student who attends classes with McDonnell's daughter at Brandeis told Page six that she has "personally seen this woman following Mary McDonnell around on campus."
It appears "pekeana" maintained a page on the blogging Web site LiveJournal. That site lists a "pekeana" as a member hailing from Kansas City, Mo., according to research by Airlock Alpha. The page is closed off to non-members, however, with a statement reading, "I'm not interested in adding anyone else to my journal right now. Yes, this means you can go away." Her LiveJournal headline reads "Just one more girl you slew" and she has a name listed as "stuck in a living hell."
It is unclear if the alleged images and such were posted through her LiveJournal or another fan area.
UPDATE: The LiveJournal from "pekeana" has been deleted.
McDonnell, who is shooting the fourth and final season of "Battlestar Galactica," was not available for comment.
"Battlestar Galactica" returns in November with the telemovie "Razor" before returning in early 2008 on the SciFi Channel.
