Say welcome back to "Eureka," because the little town that could will definitely be back next year on a television equipped with SciFi Channel near you.

The network confirmed a story first reported by Airlock Alpha as a rumor a few weeks ago that the hybrid science-fiction/comedy show has earned a third season on SciFi Channel.

"Eureka rose to an even higher creative level in its sophomore season, combining entertaining, compelling stories with deeper character development and great cast chemistry," said Mark Stern, SciFi Channel's executive vice president of original programming, in a release. "And clearly, the audience noticed, bringing millions of new viewers to the channel."

SciFi Channel has ordered 13 more episodes, with expectations that it will grow the 3 million new viewers it earned in the second season alone. After its premiere became the highest rated series premiere in SciFi Channel history, Eureka peaked this season in its Aug. 28 episode which earned a 2.1 household rating for adults 25 to 54. That equates to 1.7 million viewers.

Everyone seems to be returning for the third season, including Colin Ferguson, Salli Richardson, Joe Morton, Jordan Hinson and Ed Quinn. Also coming back are executive producers Jaime Paglia and Charlie Craig.
