Science-fiction is starting to invade television's biggest night more and more, but whether we see genre participants come onstage to receive an Emmy, we still have some time yet.

Terry O'Quinn, who plays John Locke on the ABC hit series "Lost," was sci-fi's lone winner Sunday night at the 59th Annual Emmy Awards, winning an award early in the broadcast for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He beat out fellow castmate Michael Emerson as well as Masi Oka from "Heroes" and "Boston Legal's" William Shatner to take home his first-ever prize.

"Sometimes when we're rolling around in the jungle in the mud, hitting each other and stabbing each other, I wonder what it would be like to bake up a sheet of cookies on Wisteria Lane and get one of their checks," O'Quinn told the audience, referring to his network's sister show, "Desperate Housewives." Although Quinn has been nominated before, his win was considered a surprise especially with Michael Imperioli from the departing "The Sopranos" among the nominees, previous winner Shatner, and the fan favorite, Oka.

"Battlestar Galactica" showrunner Ronald D. Moore and director Felix Alcala were both up for Emmys in writing and directing categories, but this time genre shows were no match to HBO as "The Sopranos" took both categories.

"Heroes" also was up for Outstanding Drama Series, an award -- as expected -- went to "The Sopranos" for its last hurrah.
