It may look dated now, but back in the day, "Tron" was applauded for its groundbreaking and captivating special effects. Now, it seems, the movie is ready to jump into the 21st century as Warner Bros. draws closer to finalizing a deal to re-make the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, taking control of the project is director Joseph Kosinski who is currently working on another re-creation, that of the futuristic world of "Logan’s Run," a world where people must die at the age of 30 to make room for another generation.
In the original 1982 "Tron" (which starred "Babylon 5's" Bruce Boxleitner), a computer programmer finds himself in a fantastical computer game world where he is forced to pass a series of challenges. The re-make is expected to update this idea with the use of the latest CGI technologies and game-making techniques.
But if you are worried about how such an idea will translate to the modern screen, you have nothing to be concerned about. Penning the script are "Lost" veterans Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, both of whom are keeping the story a closely guarded secret. Steven Lisberger, who co-wrote and directed the original film, is also back onboard this time serving as a producer for the movie.
“Logan’s Run” is currently slated for a 2010 launch with no details yet available for "Tron."
