With just over two weeks before the seventh season premiere airs, white-hot news about "Smallville" has surfaced via Michael Ausiello of TV Guide while other details have also been leaking from other sources. Here's what we know:
The CW's official description of the first episode of the seventh season, "Bizarro," tells fans that Tom Welling's "Clark confronts Bizarro, the last wraith
from the Phantom Zone, and the ensuing fight causes the dam to break and a torrent of water rushes towards the land."
According to the report from Ausiello, fans should "expect massive effects after a dam burst brings out Clark's, um, hottest power."
Hot powers aside, fans can expect to find Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), having just been arrested for Lana's (Kristin Kreuk) murder, is "submerged under water in a patrol car, but is saved by a mysterious young woman."
Clearly this will be the introduction to Kal-el's Kryptonian cousin Kara (aka Supergirl). Could this be the source of a new super-obsession for Lex?
"By the end of the episode, the new girl in town will be ready for her close-up," reports Ausiello.
The seventh season will delve into Kara's and Kal-el's Kryptonian family history using some neat casting. It's already been reported that Helen Slater, who played Supergirl in the 1980s movie of the same name, will play Lara – Kal-el's mother. Now Kevin Sorbo ("Hercules," "Andromeda") is in talks to appear on "Smallville," according to his official site. Recent reports from Dragon*Con say that he is most likely to be up for the part of Kara's father, Zor-el.
Lois (Erica Durance) will pull Chloe (Allison Mack) to safety but her cousin is pronounced dead at the hospital. As many times as Chloe's been pronounced dead, it hasn't stuck yet!
On the other hand, Lana could also be pronounced dead and really be dead this time. Rumors and tidbits that have been floating around the net since April, have been reporting that while Lana will die, Kristen Kreuk will still be on the show – as Lana's clone. This sounds like a way to get her out of that Lex-marriage storyline from Season 6, as well as to reshape Lana's already labile personality.
"Jimmy grows a major spine and sucker-punches a certain Young Man of Steel," according to Ausiello. No clue as to what this means, other than Jimmy will probably need a cast until his broken bones heal, and Clark will have to come up with some sort of excuse for why it happened.
When the Season 6 finale ended, viewers encountered Bizarro Clark flying onto our screens for the first time. According to Ausiello, the clown clone from hell -- or the Phantom Zone -- "will get his hands on Lois... and she'll kind of like it."
"Smallville" returns to The CW with new episodes on Sept. 27 at 9 p.m. ET.
