David Bowie Is In ... Then He's Out
The Sun just won't give up, will they?
It seems like the British tabloid has reported every single name in showbusiness is expected to appear in the upcoming fourth season of "Doctor Who" except Rosie O'Donnell. The newspaper's latest choice -- singer David Bowie -- didn't even get a chance to circulate before BBC decided to knock that rumor down.
The tabloid known for reporting that David Tennant is going to leave the show about once a week reported earlier today that Bowie -- who recently appeared in the British series "Extras" as himself -- would play a bad guy who kidnapped Agatha Christie in an upcoming episode. Bowie himself, however, said the claims were "absolute tish and tosh." We're not sure what that means, but we think that's a denial. Plus, a spokeswoman with BBC also denied the story.
It's not like Bowie has never been approached to appear on "Doctor Who" before. Apparently, in a last-ditch effort to get ratings in the 1980s, the then-dying franchise tried to bring him on board, but he said no. All of this because he played an alien back in 1976 for a film called "The Man Who Fell To Earth."
There will be some big names coming up for the new season, however, including Kylie Minogue in the Christmas special and the return of Catherine Tate as the fourth season gets under way in early 2008.
"Doctor Who" is currently airing its third season in the United States on the SciFi Channel.
