Duchovny Says X-Files Movie Is Out There
Although it's been nine years since the last film and current progress is going about as slow as a snail's run, actor David Duchovny says he's confident that "The X-Files" is coming back to the silver screen, and he can't wait to play Agent Fox Mulder again, despite leaving the show before it ended in the early 2000s.
"I always wanted it to be a movie franchise," Duchovny told TV Guide. "I never wanted to kill the character and leave the character behind, but I was tired of the grind of a television show. I thought it was a natural for movies."
What Chris Carter is trying to put together is a secret even to Duchovny.
"I have vague ideas, but they're so vague that I wouldn't be able to say anything that would make any sense," he said. "And I could be wrong."
A script is in the works, however, and it's possible that production on a film could start as early as next year.
Since the demise of "X-Files," Duchovny has recently returned to television, starring in the Showtime series "Californication."
