It appears as if spitfire "Veronica Mars" actress Kristen Bell is poised to become an other Other on "Lost."

In the third season finale, the cliffhanger of "Lost" left the island dwellers – both survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 and The Others – at the mercy of more fearsome, but as yet unseen, other Others.

"Lost" producers are currently casting for the roles of two new recurring characters who may end up becoming regulars. One role is female, and the other is male.

It seems two actors rumored on the internet to be cast in the roles are the most serious contenders: Peter Stormare (who played John Abruzzi in "Prison Break"), and Kristen Bell.

Profiles of new inhabitants of the increasingly crowded island have leaked out, including a description of a recurring character named Charlotte, "a woman in her late 20s, attractive in a naturalistic and athletic way, precocious, loquacious and funny. Charlotte is also said to repress her emotions and a hard shell to crack."

Now TV Guide's Michael Ausiello is reporting that "Kristen's name has been brought up with regard to the new role of Charlotte," and could be the "casting coup of the century," but is qualifying the news by saying "the only question now is whether [Bell] is ready to jump back into another series."

Bell, whose "Veronica Mars" following is about as avid as the "nuts" who saved the series "Jericho," could bring a new following to "Lost." If she is indeed cast, she will most likely show up in the second episode of Season 4.

As for Stormare, according to Entertainment Weekly, the former "Prison Break" actor told the Swedish media that he was offered a role on the show and has yet to decide. The role is that of Russell, "a brilliant mathematician in his late thirties who is capable of great insights and has a tremendous knowledge across various scientific fields." The casting call also reveals that Russell is too direct and not very good at making friends, and has an interest in magic and mystery despite being a scientist at heart. Russell will be introduced in the first episode of the new season.

Confirmation on who will be cast in the two roles should come near the end of the month since shooting of the new season starts Aug. 15.
