'Jericho' Doing Well In Reruns
Holding its own with other rerun competition
The last half of the season may have struggled with its competition when it was originally aired on CBS, but "Jericho" appears to be doing quite well in its second time around on the network's Friday night schedule.
"Jericho" was less than half a point behind the hour's leaders, according to Nielsen Media Research courtesy of Zap2it, earning a 2.5 rating/5 share. "Smackdown" on The CW and "Las Vegas" on NBC each had a 2.8/5. All of them beat programming on both Fox and ABC for the hour.
"Jericho" has stayed quite consistent in its rating in this rerun schedule after premiering with a 3.2 household rating last month. CBS is planning to air a second season of the show around mid-season beginning with 7 episodes, with a possible pickup of additional episodes depending on ratings.
For the night, CBS tied NBC with a 3.1/6, finishing ahead of ABC (2.7/5), The CW (2.5/5) and Fox (2.0/4). CBS was helped with strong performances by "Ghost Whisperer" at 8 p.m. and "Numbers" at 10 p.m.
Of course, it's not all rosy for "Jericho." The show lost about 31 percent of "Ghost Whisperer's" audience, but it probably didn't help that the network struggled to bring in a decent audience in the key 18-49 age demographic, finishing last for the night in that category.
Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
