The following story contains possible MODERATE SPOILERS for the second season of "Eureka."

Jo Lupo, "Eureka's" favorite deputy, has been looking for a love life since the very first episode of the hit SciFi Channel series. But has the beautiful gun-loving tomboy found a bit of unexpected love?

"She is coming out of the closet," Erica Cerra, who plays Jo in the series, recently told reporters at the SciFi Channel Digital Press Tour earlier this week.

Giving Cerra the benefit of the doubt, she did answer the question about future love interests for her character with a laugh, adding "Which direction will she go?"

If Lupo were to find a female love interest, it could add yet another dynamic to the show that has kept many fans talking throughout its first season. It also could help Cerra to make even more strides away from her other role that many genre fans might remember her for as Hera's adopted mother Maya in "Battlestar Galactica." Going from a quiet surrogate of a Cylon to a tough law enforcement officer was something even Cerra said she didn't believe would actually happen.

"I thought being 5-foot-6, I would have no chance at it," said Cerra, adding that the original character description of Lupo was to be more like professional wrestler Chyna than a tough beauty queen. "I am an incredible tomboy myself, so to be able to audition for a tomboy role, that was just easy for me. Actually getting the role [however] was more the shocker."

Besides new love in whatever form it ends up, it also looks like Lupo has a bright future in Eureka. Mark Stern, SciFi Channel's VP of original programming, mistakenly introduced Cerra as "Detective Lupo," but quickly corrected himself.

"Not detective yet, just deputy," Stern said to the laughter of the cast who joined the online journalists early Tuesday morning on the new Global Dynamics set at the Vancouver, B.C. studios. "It's a little early. I had like half a cup of coffee."
