SanctuaryOffers A Sneak Peek

Expect familiar faces in the opening installments

After the success of series tie-in Webisodes, it looks like the Internet is about to become the home to traditional broadcasting entertainment as the worlds first fully-fledged online series makes its debut.

"Sanctuary," which stars "Stargate SG-1s" Amanda Tapping, is set for a global debut on May 14, but for those who have been following the development of the project, you'll be happy to hear that a five-minute teaser video will be released on April 30.

In the series, Tapping plays Dr. Helen Magnus, whos father set up a sanctuary for the world's strangest creatures and abnormal beings. As well as diving into existing mythology from around the world of such creatures, the series also will take a more modern perspective to the development of special abilities including cloning, gene therapy and the evolution of the human race.

"Sanctuary" marks the first time a series has been produced for the Internet to the same quality and standards as broadcast television. It's being produced by a collection of "SG-1" veterans including Damian Kindler, N. John Smith and director Martin Wood.

The initial batch of episodes is expected to be available to download for free in high-definition glory, with later episodes available for a small fee. Each episode will be followed by an addition to the Webs ite for fans to enter the supernatural world of "Sanctuary."

The pilot episode also includes familiar "Stargate: Atlantis" faces David Hewlett and Paul McGillion (Rodney and Beckett respectively), as well as Christopher Heyerdahl, who played Halling in the first season of the series.
