When NBC's "Heroes" first headed into hiatus land in early March, the show was boasting an 8.5 overnight rating and a 13 share of the available audience. Now, nearly two months later, "Heroes" is still attracting respectable audiences, but considerably less then it did during February sweeps.
"Heroes" couldn't top its competition this time, earning a 7.2/11 according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, finishing behind a "Dancing With the Stars"-led ABC and comedies on CBS that include the final episodes of "The King of Queens." So why are shows such as "Dancing" and "The Bachelor" finishing ahead of heavily hyped shows like "Heroes"? Blame the older people.
"Heroes" led the hour in adults 18 to 49, Zap2it reported, and scored better ratings than "24" on Fox, which earned a 6.3/10. Those two shows at one time were neck and neck, but "Heroes" has since pulled away. "24" is down from the 7.1/11 it picked up before "Heroes" returned for its final episodes of the season.
Outside of "Heroes," NBC really didn't have much going. The network finished third for the night with a 6.3/10 ahead of Fox's 4.6/7. The winners for the evening were ABC with a 9.6/15 and CBS with a 7.7/12.
"Heroes" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
Fast nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
