The following story contains MINOR SPOILERS for the third season of "Doctor Who," now airing in the United Kingdom.
Just days after many publications throughout England and Europe talked about the ratings power of "Doctor Who," the show took a bit of a tumble in the ratings over the weekend as less people turned out for the return of the Daleks in "Daleks Take Manhattan."
WhatsOnTV is reporting that Saturday's episode that aired on BBC One in the United Kingdom pulled in just 6.3 million viewers, a significant drop from the 8.2 million that tuned in for the first episode just a month ago. There is speculation afoot on what could've caused such a ratings drop, but WhatsOnTV suggests it could possibly be because of good weather that England apparently had over the weekend.
Even with the fall, "Doctor Who" still handedly beat its competition, "Grease is the Word" on ITV1, which was down by just 100,000 viewers, but still attracting 4.2 million viewers this week.
If the drop is because of Dalek fatigue, fans probably won't have to worry too long. Reports about the show's fourth season is said to be Dalek-free, and it could be quite a long time before Terry Nation's creations return to the series, if at all.
"Doctor Who" airs Saturday nights on BBC One, and is expected to air on the SciFi Channel in the United States this fall.
