The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films have released their nominees for this year's highly-coveted Saturn Awards, with both SciFi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica" and NBC's "Heroes" leading the way.

"Heroes" picked up five nominations by itself including Best Network Television Series, and Masi Oka and Greg Grunberg for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.

"Battlestar Galactica" earned four nominations including Best Syndicated/Cable Television Series as well as best actor/actress nods for Edward James Olmos and Katee Sackhoff.

On the movie side, "Superman Returns" and "X-Men: The Last Stand" got a number of nominations including Best Fantasy Film for Superman and Best Science-Fiction Film for X-Men. Brandon Routh, who played Superman, is up for Best Actor while Kate Bosworth, who played Lois Lane, is up for Best Actress. Kelsey Grammer and Famke Janssen both have nods in supporting categories.

Other notable nominations include "V For Vendetta" for Best Science-Fiction Film. Competing for Best Horror Film are "The Descent," "Final Destination 3," "Hostel," "Saw III," "Slither" and "Snakes on a Plane."

"Pan's Labyrinth" is a nominee for Best International Film while Natalie Portman is up for Best Actress for her work in "V For Vendetta." James Marsden, who used to make his time on the X-Men films, has a Best Supporting Actor nod for "Superman Returns" while co-star Parker Posey earned a nod in the Supporting Actress side.

Ivana Baquero of "Pan's Labyrinth" and Tristan Lake Leabu of "Superman Returns" were nominated for Best Performance by a Younger Actor; Guillermo Del Toro and Bryan Singer are both up for Best Director for "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Superman Returns"; while the writing teams for "Pan's Labyrinth" (Del Toro), "Superman Returns" (Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris) and "V For Vendetta" (The Wachowski Brothers) are up for Best Writing.

John Ottman and John Powell are up for Best Music for "Superman Returns" and "X-Men: The Last Stand."

Other nominees for Best Network Series include "Jericho" on CBS, "Lost" on ABC and "Smallville" on The CW. For Best Syndicated/Cable, nominees also include Showtime's "Dexter," and three SciFi Channel series including "Doctor Who," "Eureka" and "Stargate SG-1."

Best Television Presentation nominees include "The Lost Room" on SciFi Channel and "Masters of Horror" on Showtime; Matthew Fox ("Lost") and Michael C. Hall ("Dexter") also are up for Best Actor while Evangeline Lilly from "Lost" is up for Best Actress.

Grunberg and Oka have some serious competition when it comes to Best Supporting Actor including James Callis from BSG,
Michael Emerson and Josh Holloway from "Lost," and James Remar from "Dexter." Best Supporting Actress include Jennifer Carpenter from "Dexter," Ali Larter and Hayden Panettiere from "Heroes," Allison Mack from "Smallville" and Elizabeth Mitchell from "Lost."

"Doctor Who" and "Lost" are up for Best DVD Television Release while "Star Trek: The Animated Series" is up for Best DVD Retro Release.
