'Heroes' Will Avert The Apocalypse

Creator Tim Kring talks about the show's Season 1 finale

Although it has only just returned to NBCs schedules following its winter hiatus, Heroes is looking to the future, and according to series creator Tim Kring, that future will kick-start in the Season 1 finale which will end in a cliffhanger.

"It's not necessarily a cliffhanger in terms of what has been set up so far story wise," he said. "It's more of a cliffhanger as to the welfare and well-being of several of our characters. Obviously it plays into where we kick off at the [beginning] of Season 2."

Kring already is looking to the second season of the show, however he was keen to say that the new season will not feature one of the key elements of the show, namely the impending destruction of New York City.

"That will be resolved in the first season," Kring said.

One thing that wont disappear is the villainous Sylar (Zachary Quinto) who first began his killing spree with Chandra Suresh (Eric Avari).

"I love Zach Quinto, and I love what he's doing for the show," Kring said. "And the truth is I would like to continue and have him in the second season."

Why? Because his captors have a plan for him.

"They really want something from him. The organization that Jack Coleman's character (H.R.G.) works for is on some sort of obvious research-oriented, as we call it, tag-and-release program. So there are things that they are gleaning by getting each one of these people. And remember, he is a character who seems to be exhibiting more than one power, which is intriguing to them as to how and why."

But one thing that Kring would not go into is the very thing on everyones lips - who will die at the end of the season, and is that death guaranteed?

"No, I can't say that," Kring said.
