On 'Lost,' Sex Kills
SPOILERS: Third Season To Focus On The "Others"
The following story contains MINOR SPOILERS for the upcoming third season of "Lost."
"Lost" characters Shannon (Maggie Grace), Ana-Lucia (Michelle Rodriguez) and Libby (Cynthia Watros) all had had sex on the mysterious island, or had sex in mind, and all died, series star Jorge Garcia told SciFi Wire.
"Yeah, sex kills girls," said Garcia, who plays Hurley on J.J. Abrams' series about 48 plane crash survivors. "It seems whenever a cast member ends up having or thinking about sex, they sometimes die," he said.
Meanwhile, the third season of the ABC hit drama will tell much more of the story of the menacing "Others" on the island, Garcia said.
"A lot more of their story as to what their interest is in that list and the people that they kept, which is exciting for me because I enjoyed working with them. In the last few days of shooting, we were all just kind of hanging out on the pier."
At the end of Season 2, the Others had captured Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway).
The conclusion to Season 2 also showed what happens if the survivors let the numbers down the hatch run down to zero.
"I am wondering if the numbers going to zero might have brought some new plane down or run a ship up on the beach or who knows. A Bermuda Triangle-esque accident might have occurred because of the numbers. Actually, what I'm most excited about in Season 3 is that whole situation with the outside world getting a blip that we are around. We showed up on radar somewhere," Garcia said.
That "blip," he noted, had repercussions in the real world, not a flashback or other alternate reality, the actor noted. It happened "in the real world, so it's not a dream or purgatory or any of the more surreal type of environments that some people think the show might be in," Garcia said. "It puts us on a real plane. It puts us on Earth somewhere," he said.
"Lost" returns to ABC with new six new episodes beginning in October.
