'Who' Star Once Thought Suicide

But Piper 'Really Happy Now,' She Said

Billie Piper, the former U.K. pop star turned "Doctor Who" companion, once had thoughts of suicide due the pressures of her former singing career, a BBC report said.

She considered a drug overdose while alone in a U.S. hotel room at the age of 16, but then called her parents to ask to come home, the actress said.

The 24-year-old former "Doctor Who" star also admitted suffering anorexia from 16 to 18, and again two years ago after her marriage to Chris Evans ended. But she said she was "really happy now" and no longer weighs herself.

"I didn't feel qualified or ready to talk about it until I was really, really well, this year," Piper told a U.K magazine.

Her autobiography, "Growing Pains," is scheduled for release in the next month.

Piper played Rose Tyler for two seasons of "Doctor Who" before leaving the series. The final season featuring Piper will debut in the United States Friday on the SciFi Channel.
