'Fray' a TV series?
The new 'Buffy' comic book could be the next spinoff
Although it won't be cheap, there's a possibility that the new "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" comic book series could make its way to other media -- like television.
"Buffy" creator Joss Whedon addressed that possibility in a recent interview with Sci-Fi Wire.
"It would be very expensive, on account of all the flying cars and whatnot," he said. "I don't like to think like that when I'm working on a thing. It's just the comic book, and it's eight issues. And beyond that, there are definitely possibilities, but I'm not really thinking about that. I'm trying to concentrate on the eight issues that I don't seem to be able to finish."
The comic book series takes places well in the future after UPN's series and involves a new Slayer, Melaka Fray.
"I've written four of them and I'm really behind, agh. They seem to have been well-received, I mean, they seem to be selling OK, and nobody's come to me and gone, 'Derivative and boring!'"
The third issue of the comic book hits stands Aug. 1.
