Bakula: New Trek Series In The Works

Former Captain claims Star Trek is not dead

It's been a year since the first human ship, the Enterprise, completed its four-year voyage and since then no other Star Trek series has emerged as a replacement. But according to Enterprises Scott Bakula, all that may be about to change.

"I heard there are already plans for a new series in the works, Bakula said in an interview with The Baltimore Sun. When the dust settles, someone is going to say, 'Do we really want to let this, and all the money that comes with it, go?'"

Bakula, who considers himself as a stage actor, didnt give any other details about the future of the franchise, but did say he still has a strong connection to the series and that sitting in the captain's chair of the Enterprise was a very emotional experience for him.

The 51 year old actor is currently involved in the Civil War musical in Washington, D.C. and believes he owes a lot of his opportunities to the reality jumping series Quantum Leap.

The success of the series was "the biggest I've ever had." he said. "I've made it a goal of mine to attempt to do as many different things as possible, to keep all my acting muscles in shape."

"Star Trek: Enterprise" can be seen in syndication in many markets.
