Dunst Confirms 'Spider-Man' 3 Villains

SPOILERS: Actress reveals roles for Church and Grace

The following contains MAJOR spoilers for the "Spider-Man 3" motion picture.

In a recent interview promoting her new film, "Elizabethtown," Kirsten Dunst let slip some vital information regarding the identities of the two "Spider-Man 3" villains being played by Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace, according to Zap2it.com.

"We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman," said Dunst, who plays Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's love interest.

"Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that," she said, while checking with her rep, who assured her the information had already been released.

Dunst, who has not received a script for the film yet, can be forgiven for first revealing that Church would play Venom and Grace would take on Sandman, before reversing her claim when a journalist expressed his disbelief. "It's the other way around. You're right," she said.

"But I know the general story," she said. "There's a lot that they're trying to fit into this one."

For those not familiar with the two newest editions, Sandman is a career criminal whose irradiated body can turn into a sand-like substance. Venom on the other hand, is an alien symbiont that once substituted Spider-Man's costume, until he discarded it. It is then recovered by ex-reporter Eddie Brock -- who has a grudge with Spider-Man over a journalism-related embarrassment. The symbiont gives Eddie the hatred and strength needed to create a super villain that looks like a black-and-white version of Spider-Man with a kick ass smile.

Thomas Haden Church played Lowell Mather on the sitcom "Wings," and returned to the big screen with his portrayal of Jack in 2004's "Sideways." Grace is best known for his role in on "That '70s Show" as Eric Forman.

Shooting for "Spider-Man 3" will begin in January, 2006.
