Black Brings Vala Back Again in 'SG-1'

Character will vex Daniel Jackson again for two more episodes this season

Claudia Black's character, Vala, will return again in the ninth season of the SciFi Channel's "Stargate SG-1," according to tvguide.com.

In his regular column, Matt Roush said he had a "little scoop" that Black would return for two episodes in the second half of the show's season to air during the winter months.

"I agree that she's a blast," Roush said when a fan mentioned she felt the character added more fun to the show, "even if some of the show's longtime fans seem disgruntled that other characters were marginalized during the Vala/Daniel Jackson arc, including new cast member Ben Browder."

Roush said that some "Farscape" fans were unhappy with what they perceive as an underutilizing of Browder, who plays Lieutenant Colonel Cameron Mitchell. "I've been assured that he'll be more prominent in upcoming episodes," Roush said.

Could Vala become a regular character on "SG-1?" "That would have to wait for next season, if then, and there's not even a deal in place yet for a 10th season, although I have no reason to doubt there will be one," Roush said.

On Friday, September 2, the SciFi Channel will air a marathon of fan favorite "SG-1" episodes beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The two-hour fall finale for the show will air on September 16, with "Prototype" and "The Fourth Horseman, Part 1" shown as part of SciFi Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT.
