SciFi Zone Warps To One-Hour Format
New length may help attract more markets
The SciFi Zone Radio Show, which delivers lively commentary on current science-fiction movies and television, comics, anime and sci-fi conventions, is changing to a one-hour format starting Saturday, August 6.
"This is a good thing," said John Fuld, executive producer. "When we started to syndicate, we thought we had to have a two-hour format down." However, Radio Linx, their syndication company, informed them that more stations could pick the show up with a one-hour format. "Sometimes you have to take a step back before moving forward," said Frank Dowler, the show's producer.
At least three new markets have expressed interest in carrying the show since they decided to adopt the new one-hour length.
The show airs on Saturday from 11 p.m. to midnight (EST) in Orlando, Florida, on WFLA AM 540, 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Kansas City, Missouri, on KCXL AM 1140 (CST) , and Sunday from 11 p.m. to midnight on WWBA AM 1040 (EST) in Tampa, Florida.
For almost two years, The SciFi Zone Radio Show has been on the air in the Central Florida area. The cast, which includes Fuld, Dowler and Anime Angie, also makes personal appearances at events such as science-fiction and comics conventions in the southeastern United States. The show, also referred to as, "It's What the Universe Is Listening to," features segments such as the Animinute, Club and Convention Zone along with guest interviews.
