ABC's 'Lost' Named Outstanding New Program By Critics
Show also honored for "outstanding achievement in drama"
The Television Critics Association recognized "Lost," the ABC show about survivors of a plane crash stranded on a mysterious island, with "outstanding new program" and "outstanding achievement in drama" honors at their recent awards ceremony, according to Newsday.
ABC's other hit freshman show, "Desperate Housewives," received "program of the year" accolades. Hugh Laurie of "House" on Fox won in an individual category for drama. Both "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" helped the network increase ratings in the 2004/2005 season.
Founded in 1978, The Television Critics Association consists of more than 200 columnists and reporters from print media, including newspapers, in the United States and Canada.
The ceremony were conducted at the Beverly Hilton's International Ballroom, the same location where the Golden Globes are awarded.
