Star Trek Warps Into Online Gaming

The game will be available interntionally for a monthly fee

An official website has been created dealing with the upcoming massive multiplayer online game (MMOG) for Star Trek, according to trektoday.com.

Although the game is in pre-production and development may take as much as two years to complete, Perpetual Entertainment wanted to prepare fans for entering "a persistent world where hundreds of thousands of players immerse themselves in the world of Star Trek," said a news release.

"Teamwork is a core value, and we aim to deliver industry leading support for formal and informal grouping and affiliations, such as fleets, clans, etc.," a representative at Perpetual said. "We plan on setting up official discussion forums once we have adequate staff to support the discussions and information to share."

Fans can log in at http://www.startrek.perpetual.com/.

A listing of services currently available includes an official Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file, with information on holodeck scenarios, ground combat and permanently commissioned vessels that players will be able to access.

Though the game will be available internationally for a monthly fee, there will be localized versions with both shipboard and starbase scenarios so players can pick the specific portion of the Star Trek universe they want to explore.
