New 'Lost' Regular A Clue To Upcoming Storyline
Producer won't cofirm or deny rumors
The following contains possible MINOR spoilers for the second season of "Lost."
The character of Ana-Lucia Cortez, who will be played by Michelle Rodriguez on ABC's "Lost" in its sophomore season, presents a possible hint for a storyline the show is likely to explore, according to Javier Grillo-Marxuach, writer and supervising producer for the show.
In an interview with SciFi Wire, Grillo-Marxuach referred to the character's brief appearance with Jack, played by Matthew Fox, in the season finale. "We know she made mention of sitting in the back of the plane," he said. "So does that mean if she survived, others survived? I guess it could mean that, couldn't it? It's just one of those things where you have to go, 'Uh, ha!'"
"We have a very good idea of the overall arc stories of the show," Grillo-Marxuach said regarding the second season. "We have a plan for these characters. Now it's just a matter of doing the spade and trowel work and turning them into episodic storylines."
Rumors continue to swirl across the Internet regarding the show, but the producer won't talk about them. Is Boone, who was portrayed by Ian Somerhalder, really dead, or will he come back in season three? Is Jack the only person who survived the crash, and everyone else is just in his imagination? Is Sawyer dead, or did he just forget to button his shirt, as usual?
"What can I tell you and can't tell you about 'Lost?'" Grillo-Marxuach said. "At this point, I cannot confirm or deny any rumors. There are so many of those out there, and thank God for that. If people are that excited about the show, well, I'm pretty happy with that."
"I guess I could tell you, 'no,' 'yes,' 'maybe' or whatever to just about anything that has been said about 'Lost,'" he said. "But the fun of the show is to take the journey and to see how all the mysteries unravel."
New episodes of "Lost" will return to ABC on Wednesdays at 9 this fall.
