Bale Enjoyed Driving The Batmobile
'Batman Begins' shows how Bruce Wayne built the hero's car
Christian Bale, who plays the lead role in this summer's "Batman Begins" film, found the Batsuit uncomfortable, but the Batmobile was fun to drive, according to the breakingnews.ie website.
The 31-year-old actor said that the Batman costume was a "sweaty experience" that made moving around difficult and made him feel more like "a beast." But Bale said that being able to get behind the wheel of the legendary Batmobile more than made up for any costuming problems.
"I was able to drive the Batmobile a couple of times," he said in an interview with Hotdog movie magazine. "It was lot of fun, and it's real car that you can really drive up and down the streets."
Bale enjoyed the chance to be able to drive the impressive vehicle on the road, and he was awe-struck by just how intimidating the new-look superhero car is when seen up close.
"What's interesting is that Bruce Wayne, Batman's secret identity, built this car, and we see how he builds it in the film," he said.
"It looks scary, intimidating, and I think that's what Bruce was going for," Bale said. "Batman wants his enemies to be scared of him."
In a related story on superherohype.com, while the movie was being filmed in Chicago, someone unwittingly drove onto the set and actually hit the Batmobile. The driver, unaware of what had just happened, later reported a UFO sighting.
"Batman Begins" debuts in movie theaters on June 17.
