Third X-Men Film More Complicated
Vaughn wants friend Vinne Jones to appear as Juggernaut
The third X-Men film will be more complicated than the two previous movies, and it also will have some tremendous surprises for fans, said director Matthew Vaughn in an interview at ComingSoon.net.
"I think Bryan Singer probably treated the movies in a more simplistic manner than I'm going to," Vaughn said of the franchise's previous director. "It's going to expand on things. There are three or four scenes I know people will just be shocked and close to tears."
Taking over the helm of the X-Men movie franchise from Bryan Singer doesn't bother the British director at all, apparently.
"I'm all for fans being wary of me; they've got the right to be," he said. "I'm just going to make the film as good as I can, and hopefully, they'll like it. I know that there are going to be elements I'm going to be bringing to it that will worry the fans in the sense that I want to make a movie that stands up in 20, 30 years time, basically."
As with any comics-related film, there are many rumors flying around the Internet about "X-Men 3." Some even appear to be true.
For example, the rumor that Vaughn wants Vinnie Jones, a long-time friend, to appear as Juggernaut, a fan-favorite X-villain, is for real, though Vaughn added that Jones hasnt signed anything official yet.
"What's interesting about Juggernaut is that he's the brother of Professor X, and that's why I thought it would be interesting having an English thug opposite Patrick Stewart," Vaughn said.
However, regarding word that the film will explore the Dark Phoenix saga, Vaughn has conflicting feelings.
"Bits of it are great," he said. "But other bits are a mess."
"X-Men 3" is scheduled to be released in theaters in May 2006.
