Time Magazine Likes 'Battlestar Galactica,' 'Lost'
Named the two as part of the best six dramas on television
Just a week after getting a ringing endorsement from TV Guide, the new "Battlestar Galactica" has done it again ... this time in the coveted Time Magazine.
The magazine named the SciFi Channel hit along with ABC's "Lost" as two of the six best dramas on television. The list also includes "The Shield" on FX, "Deadwood" on HBO, "Veronica Mars" on UPN and "House" on Fox.
"Intelligent life in space? The most anyone could have expected from a remake of the campy '70s series was better haircuts," the Time article said. "Instead, 'Galactica' has been reborn as a dark, thrilling story of a deep-space war between humans and the Cylons, a race of robots created by mankind that can disguise themselves in human form."
The magazine also touted the latest J.J. Abrams series on ABC where "each week, a band of unfortunates narrowly escapes deadly pitfally in pursuit of a shadowy mystery. Not the characters -- the writers. They've recklessly piled on several seasons' worth of plot twists in one year. Yet, the show has stayed just this side of ridiculous, through grounded performances and a flashback device that keeps it all from getting too claustrophobic -- and helps newcomers get to know the cast."
The Time list is interesting, as it doesn't include some of the current big-time favorites, like "Desperate Housewives."
The list is included in the April 4 edition of Time.
"Lost" airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. "Battlestar Galactica" airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on the SciFi Channel.
