Showtime Cancels 'Dead Like Me'
Lasted two seasons on premium cable show
Bryan Fuller's experiment with walking dead people is now dead itself.
"Dead Like Me," which lasted two seasons on Showtime, has been cancelled.
The plug was pulled by Showtime president Robert Greenblatt, who is considering other shows for the cable channel, including a television version of "Barbershop" similar to "Soul Food." That show was cancelled earlier this year by Showtime.
While the first season of "Dead Like Me" had decent ratings, audiences did not return for the second season of the show, which included guest appearances from actors like Eric McCormack from "Will & Grace." Also, Robert Duncan McNeill (Lt. Tom Paris, "Star Trek: Voyager") directed an episode this season.
The show starred Mandy Pantinkin ("Alien Nation") and Ellen Muth. It was created by Bryan Fuller, best known for his writing work in "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Some of his best-known episodes included "Barge of the Dead," "Workforce, Part II," "The Raven" and "Bride of Chaotica." He was co-producer on "Voyager" during the show's final season.
