X-Files Sequel Still A Possibility
Chris Carter talks about the possibilities
Although it's been a while since there's been some significant talk about "The X-Files," apparently, there are still plans to bring a sequel to the 1998 film based on the Fox series to the big screen.
Chris Carter, who created the series, recently told SFX Magazine, that he is in negotiations with Twentieth Century Fox to put together a sequel that could see the return of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
"Because it's a sequel, there are peculiar and specific kinds of negotiations that are holding us up," Carter told the magazine. "I think that there's an appetite for it, but I think that it's got to be good. People won't just go and see anything. Whatever happens, I'm going to do something good that people will want to go and see regardless."
Although Duchovny left the series in its later years, he has said recently that he misses the show and would love to revive his "spooky" FBI agent character again. Anderson also has expressed some interest in pursuing a movie role.
It is unclear whether other actors like Robert Patrick and Annabeth Gish, who became primary characters in the show's final season, would make any appearance in the film.
If a film is made, it is likely it wouldn't be released until late 2006 or early 2007.
