LostHas Found Home On ABC
J.J. Abrams series picked up for full season
It seems that Lost, the new show from Alias mastermind J.J. Abrams, has found a home on ABC.
The series, which originally was given an order for 13 episodes, has just received a full season commitment from the network.
The drama series, which sees the survivors of a plane crash fighting for survival on a mysterious island is one of two hits for the network. The comedy/drama series Desperate Housewives, which currently holds Alias Sunday night timeslot, has also been commissioned for more episodes, casting doubt on the timing of Alias when it returns to the screen in January.
Many fans of both shows have said they are hoping for a move to Wednesday nights for "Alias," providing a two-hour marathon of Abrams-television which will be sure to draw in fans from both fandoms, possibly increasing the two.
Since its debut in September, Lost has constantly won the ratings war between the major networks, and has even defeated the Man of Steel on The WB network's Smallville.
Lost, which is filmed in Hawaii, has an approximate budget of between $3 million and $4 million dollars per episode, with the pilot episode itself costing $14 million -- an amount far higher than any of the show's competition.
Many series which are produced in Hawaii are quickly cancelled due to the expensive nature of filming in the islands. However, the series was picked up due to its high ratings and because many critics view it as the best new show this season.
Lost airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
