Whedon Not Attached To 'X-Men 3'
PLUS: Are there really 'Angel' telemovies in the works?
You know you're popular when ... rumors have you doing everything from painting the Mona Lisa, to becoming a nanny to Madonna's child.
It hasn't been that bad for "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon, but the rumors have been rampant about him lately. And he took advantage of a political function in honor of a presidential candidate to dispell many of them.
According to Ain't It Cool News, Whedon was the guest of honor at a John Kerry presidential fundraising event over the weekend in Los Angeles. He spoke to fans at Kerry fundraising house parties across the country, answering questions about his work, including whether or not he would be replacing Bryan Singer for "The X-Men 3."
"After looking deep into my heart, I realized that Fox did not ask me to write and direct X-3," Whedon told his fans.
Whedon also said that as far as The WB doing some "Angel" telemovies, he wasn't aware of it, as the network never contacted him about it. However, he said that he would love to do a spinoff series from "Buffy" that involves Eliza Dushku's character of Faith. Dushku has been involved in the series "Tru Calling," which many believe has been cancelled.
Finally, Whedon gave some details about his upcoming motion picture, "Serenity," based on his failed Fox series, "Firefly." Whedon told the crowd that the movie will pick up the crew several months after the series, but will involve things that took place before the pilot.
Whedon took part in the event as a fundraiser for Kerry. How many people attended the event nationwide, nor how much money was raised, was immediately available.
