'Stargate' Actors Coming To 'Enterprise'?

Exec producer shares info on new 'Enterprise,' rumored Trek XI movie

In the past, many sci-fi actors go on to appear on other sci-fi shows, in guest star roles intended to make the audience aware of just how skilled these actors truly are. Star Trek is such a franchise, with many of its cast making guest roles on other top-notch shows, such as "Stargate: SG-1."

In an interview with IESB.net, "Star Trek: Enterprise" executive producer Rick Berman was asked about the possibility of bringing some actors from "SG-1" into the "Enterprise" universe this season.

"There currently hasn't been any thought of doing that, but you know that's not a bad idea," Berman said. "I'm good friends with [Richard Dean Anderson]. I use to work with him on 'MacGyver,' you never know."

Jolene Blalock (TPol) guest starred in two episodes of "SG-1" during the seventh and eight seasons as Ishta, a Jaffa rebel who has sworn to fight the Goauld. Robert Picardo, the holographic doctor from "Star Trek: Voyager," also appeared on a slightly more recurring basis in the final episode of the seventh season. Other actors from the Trek franchise who made their way over to "SG-1" include John de Lancie (Q) and John Billingsly (Phlox, "Enterprise").

But the question on many fan's lips at the moment is will this be the final season? Berman said he doubts it.

"We are not working with the premise that this will be the last season, but ever since ['Star Trek: The Next Generation] we have never looked beyond the current season," Berman said. "There is currently no plan right now for any new TV series. A break from Star Trek on TV [after 'Enterprise'] wouldn't be a bad idea."

And what of the alleged prequel movie which is currently in the works ... well Berman also gave a few tidbits in that regard.

"The rumors are not very accurate," he said. "We are in very early stages and we are not sure what we will see at the end. A few things that I can share is that the movie will be a prequel and probably after 'Enterprise.' It will be like nothing we have ever seen on Star Trek, and it will be based on all new characters."

Previous reports have suggested that the movie will follow the infamous story of the Romulan Wars, which took place -- according to established Star Trek canon -- between "Enterprise" and the original "Star Trek." The news has come as a surprise to many, mostly because it was believed that the poor performances of "Star Trek: Nemesis" would kill any future projects. Berman is reportedly working on the film with fellow "Enterprise" co-creator Brannon Braga.
