'Alias' Restores The Balance

Bradley Cooper provides intel on the new season

He was the cornerstone of her life for two whole seasons, and now as "Alias" enters it fourth season, Sydney Bristows (Jennifer Garner) reporter friend Will Tippin (Bradley Cooper) will make yet another return to the blood-pumping spy-drama.

Last time fans saw Mr. Tippin, he was being led away back into witness protection after helping Sydney recover a vital piece of the 11-episode puzzle of what happened to her during her missing two years. Speaking to Sci-Fi Wire, Cooper said he was more than happy to provide some intel on the new season.

"The cliffhanger thing has sort of stopped," Cooper said. "The first season was constantly 'How's she going to get out of this one?' And the second season was not as much. The third season really didn't do that much in terms of the relationships and the lines through the relationships. In Season 4, it's more like, 'Is she trusting her father or not?'"

Cooper also added that this season will act to restore the balance of what was lost in Season 3. Part of that balance will be giving Sydney a life outside of the office, in the form of a new roommate - her long lost sister, Nadia Santos, played by "Alias" newcomer Mia Maestro. Wills return is part of that move.

It also has been reported that Allison Doren, AKA Evil-Francie Calfo (Merrin Dungey) also will be make a return to the show, after being killed not just once, but twice. Considering the history Coopers character has with Dungeys, it's likely fans will see them both in the same episodes in a similar way to Season 3s "Remnant."

Cooper also said that he believed the key to "Alias'" popularity lies in the interesting blend of characters, the dynamic which exists between those characters and the riveting story keeping viewers glued to the screens.

"It's a serial, and it's the kind of show you need to see all together," Cooper said. "That's sort of the ideal way to watch the show, because I think its shortcoming is that it's never been a show where you could watch, like, the second episode and then the 10th. You really have to watch them in a succession."

Since its debut three years ago, "Alias" has proved to be a network hit, and its DVD sales have proved that it's even bigger at home, allowing fans to watch the unfolding story with back-to-back episodes, instead of a few weeks apart.

The fourth season of "Alias" doesnt begin on ABC until January, starting with the double length episode, "Non-Authorized Personnel," followed by 20 weeks of consecutive episodes.
