Spielberg Joins 'Transformers'

Dreamworks brass talks about project

Get ready for some robotic chaos in a live action kind of way. In a "Transformers" kind of way to be precise.

A joint venture between Dreamworks Pictures and Paramount Pictures will bring a live action version of the popular comic turned cartoon which has since spawned lines upon lines of toys. The film, in association with Hasbro, will be executive produced by none other than Steven Spielberg.

Everyone associated with the upcoming film seems excited for the "Transformers" ultimate transformation into a live-action feauture length film.

"Steven and everyone at Dreamworks are very excited about the prospect of expanding the world of 'Transformers' into the live-action feature film arena," said Dreamworks production head Adam Goodman in a press release. "The possibilities for a thrilling action adventure are virtually endless, and a film holds the definite promise of expanding an already worldwide fan base to new audiences."

The film, slated for a 2006 release, will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy, and Tom DeSanto.
