Could 'Angel' Be Back?

Whedon in 'Angel' movie talks with The WB

It ran for five years, and was taken off the air with what could only be one of the best cliffhangers imaginable. Rumors have persisted that "Angel,' the spinoff series to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," might return as a movie, or movie series. Now it seems, those rumors have some truth to them.

"[We] have an offer on the table to (co-creator Joss Whedon) to do movies," said Garth Ancier, chairman of The WB. "When Joss and David Boreanaz are both interested in doing it at the same time, I'm sure we will be doing 'Angel' movies. Certainly Joss would like to. David will take a bit more coaxing, but I think he will do it."

Speaking at network's autumn press preview in Los Angeles, Ancier also revealed that Twentieth Century Fox bares some responsibility for the cancellation of the series, and not just The WB alone.

"They had pushed for an early decision on whether the show should come back or not," he said. "Had they not pushed for the early renewal, or, conversely, if we had said, 'You know what? Let's wait till we get to the scheduling room in May and decide then,' ... the show may or may not have been back. But I think we would have had that opportunity to discuss it. I think the mistake that was made is that between us and Twentieth, we didn't wait until May. We just made the decision early based upon their request."

The cancellation of "Angel" causes a massive outcry among fans of all ages worldwide, and led to an international campaign to save the series. Fans petitioned various networks, and helped raise money for a variety of charities all in the name of Saving "Angel."
