Changes Ahead For 'SG-1'
Could Rogaine be making its way to the show?
He was once the first prime of an evil alien dictator, but now he fights for whats right as a pivitol member of Earths flag-team, SG-1.
Speaking to Sci-Fi Wire, Christopher Judge, who plays the Jaffa warrior Tealc on Sci-Fi Channel's "Stargate SG-1," recently discussed the changes ahead for his character in the new season which begins in July on the cable channel.
The biggest change however is perhaps the most shocking change that could ever occur: Tealc grows hair.
"Yes, it took a lot of years of begging and grovelling for me to finally get it, but yeah ... that will be the most obvious change, definitely," Judge said during a filming break in Vancouver.
The role of Tealc required the star to shave his head each season, and keep it shaved most of the year.
"I got really tired of it, just shaving my head every morning," Judge said. "And by three quarters of the way through the season, it was really painful to actually shave. So, you know, this is very welcome. Very welcome. Hopefully the fans will like it."
Judge, who had asked on multiple occasions about letting Tealc grow some hair, said it took a lot of persuasion to convince the producers of the series to allow him to make Tealc hairstyle one of the changes this season.
"I'd done a bunch of conventions and had cornrows (during hiatus), so I talked to (executive producer) Rob Cooper before I left, and he said, 'OK, maybe so.' So I kind of unveiled the cornrows at the conventions. So we got here (when filming resumed), and it was the Friday before the Monday we started shooting, and pictures were sent down to MGM. And they didn't like it. So I had to shave the cornrows. But this is what's left."
"Stargate SG-1" returns on July 9 for a two-part season premiere entitled "New Order."
